Beautifully illustrated publication on the Muslim festivity of Al-Ashura. For Shia Muslims, Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar, marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram and commemorates the death of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala. Illustrated by the author throughout; a fine, late production of the French press in Egypt.

Contemporary ownership stamp "A.T." to upper cover. Covers slightly stained, otherwise a very good copy. Rare.
