To Mr. Browne in Ramsgate, thanking for a book by the same: "I regret that my absence from home has prevented me the pleasure of an earlier acknowledgement of the receipt of your note of the 19th inst. with the work which accompanied it. I beg to offer you my best thanks for your very interesting volume and to assure you that though I have not yet had sufficient opportunity to peruse the whole of it, the parts which I have read have offered me the greatest pleasure and admiration at the power of description and imagination of the affecting scenes displayed therein [...]".

Small strip of old mounting tape on verso. Accompanied by another autograph address to Mrs. Macartney of Tenby, clipped from an envelope and mounted on paper.
