Returning a signed document to a friend and thanking him for tickets that he took the liberty of upgrading: "Voici votre programme visé. Vous me l'avez envoyé sur un papier impossible. Il a fallu le recopier pour le présenter à la Signature. Je vous remercie des billets que vous avez bien voulu m'envoyer. Mais permettez-moi de vous les rehausser. Quand nous les acceptons c'est toujours des premieres places [...]".

Apart from his work as a librettist and translator, Émilien Pacini was a theatre censor at the Ministry of the Interior. A friend of Rossini's, he wrote the lyrics for a cantata composed for the International Exposition (1867) in Paris.

On stationery with printed letterhead of the "Commission d'Examen des Ouvrages dramatiques" at the "Ministère de la Maison de l'Empereur et des beaux-arts". With a minor tear.
