Born into a prominent family of Munich artists, Adam applied himself to landscape photography before specializing in the cat paintings which proved so internationally popular that they earned him the byname "Katzen-Adam".
Traces of a vertical fold near the right edge. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
