Working as an illustrator for the magazines "Jugend" and "Simplicissimus" from 1896 onwards, Eichler joined the artists' association "Scholle" in 1899 and applied himself mainly to female nudes and landscape painting, focussing on the scenery around Holzhausen am Ammersee in Bavaria.

Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
