One of the most important landscape painters from Schleswig-Holstein, Feddersen took study trips to Sylt, Masuria and Rügen as well as Italy before settling in his native Kleiseerkoog in North Friesland in 1885. His style developed from Naturalism via Impressionist tendencies to Expressionism, resulting in more than 1400 works.

Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
