Autograph quotation signed.
Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page.
Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Austria - Germania | Heil u. Sieg! [...]".
After being twice rejected by the Vienna Academy, Hlavácek was finally admitted in 1859 and specialized in landscapes. His most characteristic works, including monumental paintings created from 1874 to 1884, such as a panorama of Vienna, show a poetic understanding of nature.
Small ink spots near upper margin; faint creases near lower corners. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
