Born in Moscow and considered a pioneer of abstract art, Kandinsky co-founded the artists' association "Der Blaue Reiter" in Munich in 1911, and taught at the German Bauhaus school of art from 1922 until his emigration to France in 1933.
Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
