Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ihre Karte wurde mir nach Frankfurt nachgesandt, daher die Verzögerung der Antwort [...]".

A self-taught artist, Krieger specialized in animal sculpture, preferably depicting native German mammals and birds, worked in bronze, brass, stone and porcelain, and was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement as well as his by colleague Adolf von Hildebrand (1847-1921).

Traces of postal stamps; a few small creases near corners. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
