Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau.

A disciple of Art Nouveau, Riegel was a member of the "Deutscher Werkbund", created the livery collar of the Darmstadt mayor, and decorated the Lutherkirche in Worms in 1912. He started teaching in Cologne in 1913, where he was appointed professor at the Werkschule in 1926.

A few small ink spots and creases. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
