Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau.
Born into a prominent family of Swiss artists, Rüdisühli specialized in landscapes, allegories and portraiture. He operated painting schools in Stuttgart and Basel from 1888 to 1898, when he moved to Munich, where his paintings proved quite popular with the Bavarian nobility.
A few tiny ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
