Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau.

Specialized in genre painting and portraiture, his motifs including court room scenes, still lifes, and Tyrolean huntsmen, Schlabitz operated a private painting school in Berlin from 1887, created the monumental painting "Martin Rinckarts Bittgottesdienst" for the Eilenburg Realgymnasium in 1907, and was a dedicated collector of folk art.

Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
