Designing several typefaces and books for the publishing houses S. Fischer and Schaffstein, Weiß participated in the first exhibition of the "Deutsche Künstlerbund" as a painter in 1904, provided illustrations for the children's book "Der Buntscheck", and was appointed professor at the Berlin Kunstgewerbemuseum in 1910.

A few small ink spots and creases; labeled "10" in blue crayon on verso. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
