The first two bars of Hahn's song "Offrande", a setting of Paul Vérlaine's poem "Green", with a dedication to Marie Françoise Belin, wife of the inventor Édouard Belin.
Hahn composed this haunting melody in 1891, when he was only 16 years of age; it was first published in 1896, the year of Vérlaine's death.
With collector's note in pencil. Well preserved.
