Apologizing to the recipient that he cannot agree to a meeting at the moment due to his occupations, promising to get back to him: "Je suis tellement occupé en ce moment qu'il m'est impossible de vous assigner un rendez vous. Mais aussitôt que je serai un peu plus libre j'aurai le plaisir de vous écrire et de vous recevoir [...]".

Always inclined to acting, Bouffé gave up his profession as a jeweler to become an actor at the age of 21. Although throughout his career he played the smaller stages of Paris such as the Théâtre de la Gaîté, the Théâtre des Nouveautés, the Gymnase, and the Théâtre des Variétés, he was considered one of the best character actors of his generation and enjoyed great popularity. Bouffé's final performance on 17 November 1864 took place at the Paris Opera on personal orders of Emperor Napoleon III, who appreciated the actor.

Some foxing.
