After Nicolas Baptiste started his acting career in Rouen alongside his parents, his wife, and his brother, the family moved to Paris. Nicolas soon gained popularity and was hired for leading parts in tragedies and comedies at the Théâtre de la République, the later Comédie-Française in 1793. His stellar career at the Comédie lasted 35 years.

With a tear from breaking the seal and a collector's note in brown ink. Well preserved.
