To the (unnamed) operatic tenor Alexis Dupont, asking him to participate in a charity concert for a young Italian artist in need. Among the participants would be the soprano Delphine Ugaldo, while Pauline Viardot had not yet responded, as Naldi explains: "Monsieur, voulez vous permettre a une vielle connaissance de venir se rappeler a votre bon souvenir, et en outre de vous présenter une supplique - déjà vous avez deviné qu’il s’agit d’une bonne œuvre et que sachant par expérience combien vous êtes obligeant, je m’adresse à vous, sans m’arrêter à la pensée que vous puissiez me me trouver indiscrète. Une pauvre étrangère, Italienne, artiste, musicienne distinguée, par un concours de circonstances malheureuses, se trouve à Paris dans l’embarras, et ne connaissant que quelques femmes qui comme moi lui portent un intérêt dont elle est bien digne. Eh bien ! pour lui venir en aide, ce petit cénacle feminin a imaginé d’arranger une matinée musicale dans un hôtel particulier (nous espérons l’hôtel Monaco) [...] Chacune de nous cherche a obtenir le concours de quelques talents distinguées qui aient la bonté de prêter généreusement leur appui a notre protégée, […]". Carolina Naldi was the daughter of the bass-baritone Giuseppe Naldi. She sang at the Théâtre-Italien from 1820 to 1823, retiring from the stage after her marriage with the Count of Sparre.
Alexis Dupont, who sang at the Opéra-Comique from 1821 to 1823 and at the Paris Opera from 1826 to 1841, was one of the favourite singers of Hector Berlioz, most notably creating the tenor solo in "Roméo et Juliette" in 1839.
