To the Austrian botanist Günther Beck von Mannagetta und Lerchenau, thanking him for a "monograph of Galanthus", commonly known as snowdrop: "Thank you very much for the monograph of Galanthus and the other papers".

The monograph mentioned cannot be traced to the recipient as its author. John Gilbert Baker served as the keeper of the herbarium of Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, from 1890 to 1899, while Beck was head of the Botanical Department in the K. K. Hofkabinett, now the Natural History Museum, from 1885 to 1899.

Very lightly stained.
