Strauss, Richard, composer (1864-1949). Autograph lettercard signed.

Probably Vienna, 26 Jan. 1928.

Small oblong 8vo. 1 p. With autograph envelope.

To his friend, the conductor Egon Pollak, announcing that due to his cook having fallen ill, their regular game of cards will have to be relocated to the flat of Emanuel Grab-Hermannswörth (1868-1929).

Apart from music and family, the German card game "Skat" was one of the composer's great passions; he created a musical memorial to it in "Intermezzo". For Strauss's relationship to the Jewish Grab-Hermannswörth family, to whom he was related through his son's marriage, see Županic (below).

On stationery with printed letterhead; card and envelope show slight traces of former mounting on versos..
