To "Henriette", likely the orientalist painter Henriette Browne (1829-1901), about a card he is about to send her: "Je suis en passe de vous envoyer la carte que vous désirez [...]".

Guillaumet is best known for his paintings of North Africa, and many of his works depict the life of the people of the desert in Southern Algeria. In contrast to Orientalism with its deliberately idealised depiction of North Africa, Guillaumet's work showed the harshness of the terrain and challenging conditions of life in desert regions.

With an old horizontal fold.
