Terms of contract for Aramco employees: the personal copy of Lawrence Barnes, signed in New York on 2 May 1947.

The document covers issues including duty in Saudi Arabia, overseas transportation, housing, income taxes, bank accounts, and customs regulations. The company briefly describes the living and working conditions at their facilities in Dhahran, Ras Tanura, Abqaiq, and Al Kharj ("a typical Arab town"), as well as in outlying camps. It points out that Aramco is permitted to import alcoholic beverages for its employees, emphasizing that this royal permit "does not extend to its individual employees".

For staff members wearing glasses the company strongly recommends to bring at least two pairs to Saudi Arabia, as the nearest services for prescription lenses are in Cairo or Bombay.

Further, Aramco calls the prospective employee's attention to the fact that their employment involves longer separation from their wives and family, "a factor [...] of utmost importance [that] should be given serious consideration".

Small marginal tear near the staple. A rare and early survival.
