To the musician Frederick Allan Wilshire (1868-1944) with thanks for appreciation, Coward would not wish to involve the local press with further articles due to his current popularity: "Accept my thanks for your letter and paper [...]. I dare not show them to the local press because so much is being said of my doings just now. It is very gratifying to see you are taking such great interest in the services for the people. Go on and prosper [...]".

Knighted in the later 1920s, Coward afterwards served as President of the "Tonic Sol-fa College" in London.
