To the artist and journalist Pierre Descargues, thanking him enthusiastically for a television production that featured Dubuffet's work, probably in connection with a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou: "Excellente votre émission, bien réussie, j'y ai eu plaisir. Vous avez orchestré cela avec remarquable savoir-faire, la position de mes travaux y apparaissait bien mise en relief, c'était très habilement fait. Je vous remercie du soin, que vous y avez apporté et qui a conduit à cette présentation qui était, à ce qu'il me semble, pour le public, éclairante et savoureuse".
The retrospective at the Centre Pompidou from 23 September to 23 November 1981 was the last great exhibition of Dubuffet's work during his lifetime.
