To Mr. Griffith, apologizing for a delay in completing a plate, "and very sorry that I have not been able to fulfil it, owing to circumstances which I could not foresee". Rhodes assures his client that he continues to work on the plate: "The plate is in a good state of forwardness and I do assure you that it will not be long before I shall have the pleasure of showing you a proof".
Rhodes mostly worked on book illustrations.
