Scarce, confidential British Army briefing on the political situation in Mandate Palestine in the immediate aftermath of WWII, with "Restricted" warning on title-page. Includes a map of Palestine, dated 29 September 1945, indicating predominantly Jewish-owned land as well as major towns, roads, railways and rivers.

The pamphlet briefly addresses the history of Palestine, Zionism and British promises made during WWI, the establishment of the Mandate, the Arab rebellion of 1936, the 1939 White Paper and the Biltmore Programme, concluding with an outline of the situation in 1945. The foreword by General Sir Bernard Paget urges officers to read the booklet in order to understand "the problem of Palestine, for without such knowledge you will not appreciate the difficulties which confront us in that country, and why you are here".
