Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Anbei das gewünschte Autogramm [...]". Best known for his pop-up books, Meggendorfer illustrated a number of books written by Julius Beck, among them the "Neues Struwwelpeterbuch" published by J. F. Schreiber in the 1890s. He created some 40 board games and published the artistic and satirical magazine "Meggendorfer-Blätter" from 1888 to 1905.
Traces of a postal stamp; a few small creases. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
