First edition. A plea for the toleration of Protestantism in France - for humanitarian, but above all for economic reasons. Toleration towards Protestants would contribute to the growth of French population, and the author, an extreme populationist, considered the size of population as the chief source of wealth for the kingdom. The additional work, added as a final part, argues that marriages with Protestants concluded outside France are valid and protestants should be tolerated if population growth is desired.
