Very rare contemporary account of the 1849 siege of Timisoara, then part of the Kingdom of Hungary. The town was besieged by Hungarian revolutionary forces rebelling against the Austrian regime. Ambrozy György (1807-67), a Hungarian historian and representative of the Temes county, gives his own detailed testimony of the incident, also describing the preliminary events leading up to the siege, which was broken by Russian forces after three months. Today, Timisoara is the capital of Timis County in Romania.

The author's name is supplied to the title-page in pencil. Some underlinings and markings, somewhat brownstained throughout. From the library of the Viennese collector Werner Habel.
