Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Prosit 1914! [...]".

A portraitist as well as a painter of historical and genre themes, Jungwirth was frequently commissioned by Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whom he frequently accompanied on his travels. He found inspiration on his study trips to Italy, Germany and Holland, and taught at the Vienna Academy.

A few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
