After studying and working in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, Wielandt moved to Munich in 1903, joined the Munich Secession, and frequently travelled the French and Italian Mediterranean coasts, where he created atmospheric paintings of the Riviera, Capri and Sicily.

Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
