The photograph shows Gershwin in front of the office of Chappell & Co., one of the leading music publishers and piano manufacturers in Great Britain, located at 52 Maddox Street, together with the orchestra leader, composer, pianist and actor Harry Rosenthal and the former Managing Director of the New York branch of Chappell & Co., Walter Eastman, who had moved to London. On the reverse Eastman inscribed the photograph "to Maude Hamill [of Chappell & Co.] from Walter Eastman Nov. 14. 45 Rhapsody in Blue Day".
