Private correspondence with Juliette Massenet-Bessand (1868-1935), daughter of the composer Jules Massenet. The two earlier letters that can be dated based on postmarks concern invitations that Hanotaux has to decline. In the letter dated 22 December 1910, Hanotaux promises to support Adrien Fauchier-Magnan's submission for the Prix Thérouanne for history writing of the Académie Française, a biography of Lady Hamilton, although he suspects that it will be difficult "because it is not about French history". Indeed, Fauchier-Magnan's entry was not among the award-winning books of 1911. Apparently, the letter was forwarded by a mutual friend named Nobel, as a short note to Juliette Massenet on fol. 2v suggests.
