A serialized part of the first Greek translation of Victor Hugo's "Les Misérables", by Ioannis Isidorides Skylissis: the desperate scene from the middle of volume II, livre cinquième, in which Valjean and Cosette are pursued by Javert down a dead-end Parisian alleyway. The translation had first been serialized in 1862 in Skylissis's own newspaper, the Trieste-based "Hemera". The present reprint, which began on 5 November 1881, appeared in "Neai Ideai", a pioneering anti-oligarch newspaper that ran from 1878 to 1883 under the editorship of K. Mavroyiannis.

Both leaves separated at the joint; paper browned and brittle with a few edge tears. A fine survival.
