A rare Baathist publication about the history of Gulf, prepared and printed by the Military College of Iraq as part of their Military Culture Series. It includes three folded colour maps of the Gulf, Qatar, and the Oman-United Arab Emirates border; five black and white maps of Kuwait, Abu Musa and the Tunb Islands, the Arabistan region, UAE, and Bahrain; and two plates: one shows a photograph of the President Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, dated 22 February 1972, entitled "My gift to the military college upon the publication of the book The Arabian Gulf", the other, the flags of the Military College and Iraq.

A propaganda publication in line with the Baathist ideology of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, which became the ruling party in Iraq after the 17 July Revolution in 1968; the cover bears a quote by Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, the leader of revolution, promoting Arab nationalism. As such, the book voices nationalist, pro-Palestinian, anti-imperialist, and anti-Zionist positions. The introduction explains that the Arabian Gulf is under threat as a result of Britain's interventions after the First World War, so it is important to learn the history of the Gulf to know that the people living there were Arabs throughout the history.
