Aramco's Home Ownership Program.
8vo. Folding pamphlet in English and Arabic. With several black-and-white photographic illustrations.
€ 350,00
Information brochure on Aramco's Home Ownership Program which led to the construction of thousands of houses mainly in the eastern oil-rich regions. Printed in English and Arabic back-to-back.
The pamphlet advertises company loans granted to Saudi oil workers to construct or purchase a family home, showcasing new "villa-type" houses equipped with "larger kitchens", television sockets and "car ports with easy access", advertising that already "more than 5,300 Aramco Saudi Arab employees own their own home".
The need for Aramco to provide better accommodation for Saudi workers was highlighted by the vastly different living conditions of U.S. expats compared to local Saudi workers: inside the camps, expats lived in modern, imported, prefabricated timber buildings laid out in neat suburbs; local workers lived outside the fence in ramshackle "Coolie Camps" made up of traditional barastis, tents and other structures assembled from salvaged materials.
Slightly spotted; otherwise in very good condition.
