When Count Loevenhjelm was appointed Swedish ambassador to the Porte, the naturalist Hedenborg (1787-1865) accompanied him as his medical attendant. He published another work on Egypt and died in Rhodes. The attractive plates in this present work depict the costumes of a wide range of the inhabitants of Constantinople.

Binding rubbed; interior browned, showing the occasional fingerstain. Rare.
