Rare geological paper presented at the 1972 Arab Petroleum Congress, issued by Dr. Soliman Mahmoud Soliman and Ezzat M. Korany, both professors of Geology at Ain Shams University in Cairo. It discusses the results of an extensive lithostratigraphic and petrologic study conducted in Jebel El Duwi, Qusseir area, the first of its kind, evaluating the area's suitability for petroleum prospecting. In this process the researchers collected samples of three rock formations for "deciphering the nature of the tectonic framework of sedimentation", drawing promising conclusions for sedimentary similar parts of Egypt with respect to petroleum prospecting. Images of rock samples, variation diagrams and lithostratigraphic logs back up their hypotheses and give an idea of the elaborate laboratory work necessary to carry out such a study.

In fine condition.
