The collected works of famed medieval Persian writer Saadi Shirazi (1210-92), printed in Persian and published in Mumbai. This volume of Saadi's oeuvre is printed in an interesting pseudo-manuscript style, with text arranged in ruled columns with catchwords, typeset in a nasta'liq font, and even ending with a colour lithograph colophon.

Saadi was one of the best-known medieval Persian writers, whose works spanned both poetry and prose. Often his narratives are centred on anecdotes from his own journeys across Muslim Asia, frequently occasioning reflections on human needs and weaknesses. The parade of human types and moral teachings subtly affirms a Sufic ethics of wisdom permeated by brilliant irony. His collected works remain popular; in Iran an annual day of commemoration is held in Saadi's honour.

Some exterior wear, leaves toned with some chipping, first leaf detached. An uncommon edition, not in OCLC.
