To the composer Félix Raimbert, inviting him to a concert at the Salle Pleyel: "En effet nous donnons dimanche prochain chez Pleyel notre troisième séance de musique de chambre. Je suis heureux de l'espoir que vous me donnez de vous y voir, j'aurai bien de la joie à vous serrer la main. En atttendant, je vous remercie de notre bon souvenir et vous prie de croire, mon cher Monsieur Raimbert [...]".

Franchomme was the foremost cellist of his time and composed a large œuvre for his instrument. He is particularly known as a close friend and collaborator of Frédéric Chopin: in 1833 they published the Grand Duo concertant for piano and cello (B. 70). Franchomme was also the dedicatee of Chopin's Cello Sonata in G minor (Op. 65). The all but forgotten composer Félix Raimbert dedicated a "Boléro composé pour le piano" to Franchomme's daughter Cécile.
