Three important papers from the 1960 Petroleum Congress, issued by two prominent oil companies: Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) and Basra Oil Company (BOC). They discuss seismic and geological issues, summarize the geology of the oil region south of Kirkuk, present questions of the movement of geological strata and implications for the search for oil, and the excavation techniques used in Az Zubair Field and Rumaila Field. The folding plates illustrate the distribution of oil in the Arabian Gulf Iraq-Iran Basin, variations in drilled thickness due to dip and well deviation in certain sites, full geological maps of the Kirkuk region, stratigraphic correlations between different structures in the same region, and the tectonic framework of Iraq.

A very well preserved set reflecting the 1960s' scientific background to oil production in the Arab World.
