Cécile Mendelssohn Bartholdy, geb. Jeanrenaud, wife of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, 1817-1853

Cécile Charlotte Sophie Mendelssohn Bartholdy, née Jeanrenaud, was the wife of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and the mother of the historian Carl Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1838–1897) and the chemist Paul Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1841–1880). Mendelssohn Bartholdy got to know Cécile Jeanrenaud in Frankfurt in 1836, when he headed the Caecilia Choir for Johann Nepomuk Schelble. They were married on 28 March 1837 and had five children, all born in Leipzig.
