A professor at the Munich Kunstgewerbeschule from 1907, Niemeyer created numerous designs for porcelain factories including Nymphenburg and Meissen as well as Villeroy & Boch, and was awarded a gold medal at the 1904 St. Louis World Fair.
Traces of postmarks; corners a little creased. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
