8vo. (22), 390 pp. With woodcut printer's device on title-page, engraved frontispiece, 1 folding engr. tables, 1 folding engr. map, and 12 engr. plates (6 folding). Contemporary vellum with ms. title to spine and front cover. Edges sprinkled in red.
€ 450.00
Third edition of this frequently reprinted work (first printed in Paris in 1684).
The plates (mostly by T. Doesburgh and A. de Winter) show a map of classical Rome, costumes, circus games, a triumphal procession, coins, etc.
Occasionally slightly browned due to paper; altogether a pretty copy in an attractive contemporary vellum binding.
