To the music publisher Carl Haslinger, asking him to have a look at "the arrangement for 2 pianofortes on which [he] has spent 3 days annotating and editing" in order to propose a new version, with many annotations for the piano and fewer parts for instruments. He also sends his Hungarian Rhapsody "properly instrumented" and asks Haslinger "to prepare a similar edition." Liszt leaves for Zurich to stay with his friend Wagner.
