Rare account of an archaeological journey through Lazio along the Aniene River, from the Villa of Horace (near Licenza) to Subiaco (the ancient Sublaqueum) and onwards to Trevi nel Lazio (Treba Augusta). The Italian archaeologist Antonio Nibby (1792-1839) excavated in the area of the Forum Romanum from 1827, and cleared Rome's Cloaca Maxima in 1829.

Tissue guard wrinkled and brownstained. Occasional insignificant foxing. A wide-margined copy from the library of the Ducs de Luynes at the Château de Dampierre: their bookplate reproducing the arms of Charles Marie d'Albert de Luynes (1783-1839), 7th Duc de Luynes, on pastedown. Only 3 copies listed in OCLC (NYPL, Edinburgh, London Library).
