Second, improved Cambridge edition (first published in 1635). "The 1652 edition is sought as the most beautiful and correct one" (cf. Schweiger). Contains the works of Hesiod, Theocritus, Moschus, Bion, Simmias, Musaios, Theognis, Phokylides, Pythagoras, Solon, Tyrtaios, Simonides, Rhianos, Naumachios, Panyasis, Orpheus, Mimnermos, Linos, Callimachus, Evenos, Eratosthenes, Menecrates, Posidippus and Metrodoros as well as the fragments of 21 additional poets “et aliorum incertorum autorum”.

From the library of the Cambridge classicist Leonard Whibley (1863-1941), sometime secretary of the University Press and author of the standard "Companion to Greek Studies" (cf. DNB, Suppl. 1941-1950, 950), with handwritten gift note to pastedown: "Presented by Mr. Leonard Whibley 1932" and an engraved armorial bookplate. Title-page has handwritten ownership "John Billingsly Jo. Hatfeild scripsit" (possibly indicating the nonconformist divine John Billingsley, 1657-1722, or his father, 1625-84).

Some slight waterstains; occasional old marginal annotations in Greek and Latin.
