To the German art historian Hans Secker, head of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, thanking in a slightly uneven German for a publication which Secker had sent him, expressing his interest for the museum's activities and his admiration for Cologne especially since the Sonderbund exhibition: "Mein herzlichsten Dank fΓΌr Ihr schones Werk: Die Galerie der Neuzeit im Museum Wallraf-Richartz[.]
Die Sonderbund-Ausstellung von 1912 "supplied a breathtaking review of early modern art: Vincent van Gogh, Paul CΓ©zanne, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso and the neo-impressionists Henri-Edmond Cross and Paul Signac, the first generation was set in context to more recent efforts all around Europe, with a special focus on Edvard Munch" (Wikipedia).
