Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau.
Focusing on landscape painting and still lifes in pointillist and neo-impressionist styles, Palmié founded the Kallmünz artists' colony in 1901. Along with Wassily Kandinsky he was a founding member of the "Neue Künstlervereinigung München" in 1909 and taught at the Munich Academy.
Traces of a postmark; a few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
