A member of the artists' association "Die Elbier" and a founding member of the "Dresdner Künstlervereinigung", Pfeifer created neoclassicist sculptures in the Leipzig area as well as medals and reliefs in the Art Nouveau style, which earned him the byname "Plaketten-Pfeifer", his preferred themes including friendship and love.
Traces of a vertical fold near right margin; small crease near upper left corner; a few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
