First edition of this response to attacks levelled against the "Critique of Pure Reason" by the Wolffian philosopher Johann August Eberhard (1739-1809) in the first volume of the "Philosophisches Magazin" (1789). Kant felt it necessary to break his own rules and take up the gauntlet: with the present book he defended the core of his critique of reason as well as its claim to originality.

Provenance

From the collection of a Viennese publican.

Condition

Extremeties slightly bumped; a tiny paper flaw to the upper cover. Occasional light foxing due to paper stock, but altogether very well preserved.
